# Open Intents Framework - Web3 Case Study by BootNode
> The Open Intents Framework (OIF) is a modular, permissionless system designed to accelerate ecosystem-wide interoperability across Ethereum. Co-developed by BootNode and Hyperlane, and supported by 30+ teams, including L2s, wallets, and infra providers, OIF makes it easier for any chain to adopt intent-based flows and deliver seamless cross-chain UX. By standardizing and modularizing key components like solving and settlement, the framework empowers developers to build frictionless asset transfers without being locked into a single vendor.

## Challenge
Cross-chain applications are notoriously complex. Developers face fragmented tooling, inconsistent standards, and high integration overhead when building intent-based flows like bridging or swapping. Hyperlane’s vision for permissionless interoperability required a developer-friendly foundation that could unify standards, simplify execution, and accelerate experimentation.
## Solution
01 - Together, we built a TypeScript-based relayer/solver that listens for onchain events and executes intents across chains.
02 - We contributed a reference implementation of [EIP-7683](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7683), helping standardize how intents are formatted and interpreted.
03 - We created a pre-built UI template that makes intent flows accessible to end users, while remaining fully customizable for teams.
This modular toolkit lowers the barrier to entry for intent-based development and supports Hyperlane’s wider interoperability goals, including the availability of open-source permissionless software.
## Contributions
Architecting and building the **relayer/solver service** in TypeScript.
Developing the **EIP-7683 Solidity reference implementation** to ensure compatibility across different projects.
Designing and delivering a **UI template** with customizable flows for common use cases, such as bridging and swapping.
Providing developer experience and modular infrastructure insights to ensure adoption across diverse teams.
Speaking and helping teams in hackathons to build with the OIF.
## Outcome
**Reduce infrastructure overhead** and focus on unique product features.
**Leverage interoperability** via Hyperlane, or other interop protocols, to unlock seamless cross-chain execution.
**Adopt standards early** to ensure compatibility with the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
## Client Testimonials
> "Working with the BootNode team has been super easy. Their expertise, dedication, and proactiveness were exactly what we were looking for in a partner to work on the Open Intents Framework and our recent rebalancer project. OIF 1.0 was delivered just three months after kick-off and received a lot of interest and strong community support. For the rebalancer, the BootNode team handled everything—from architecture and agent services to testing and documentation—making integration with our smart contracts seamless. A big thank you to the entire BootNode team for their hard work and commitment!"

> "BootNode and Hyperlane played a huge role in taking the Open Intents Framework from a concept to a functioning, open-source framework we could develop with the ecosystem. Their ability to quickly iterate meant we could bring in a much wider set of ecosystem contributors to sit together, test ideas, and have a concrete foundation for discussing the future of interoperability on Ethereum. Having a team like BootNode that is both technically strong and easy to work with made this kind of ecosystem-wide coordination possible."
